My Addiction

This is a page will I will writing about my addiction to nail polish. I am also trying my hand at freehand nail art but I am by no means a professional. I do hope to go and take a nail technician course someday very soon. I'll keep you posted on that.
I usually try to photograph the polish bottles I use. I basically use China Glaze, OPI, Art Deco Nail Art. If I have other brands, I will list them, as well.

So, the other day I decided to treat myself to some new polishes that I've been reading about on other blogs.  I found them at Lawton's Drugstore last weekend and when I got paid, decided to buy a few.  I only meant to buy 2 or 3, but ended up getting 4.

From l-r: Mercury Twilight, Coral Glam, Mermaid Spell and Flash Black

I've been looking around for some great holos after China Glaze's OMG collection from a couple of years back. These are from an Italian company called Layla. If you don't know what a holo polish is, it's a polish that gives an awesome 3D effect on the nails, very prismatic. Pix just don't do these polishes justice. If you do take pix, take them in natural sunlight, so you can "capture" the prisms.
Now, I won't lie, these are a bit more pricey that what I'm used to paying for polishes, avg price is $15.99 CDN. As a hairstylist, I can go down to my local wholesaler, go to the esthetics section and buy my polishes cheaper than the average consumer. Layla isn't considered a professional (OPI, China Glaze, Essie, Venique, CND) polish, but it holds out like a professional polish. I've had Mermaid Spell on my toes for about 5 days, wearing socks (it got cold here this week), sneakers, sandals and they haven't shown any wear or chips yet...YAY!!! On my fingers I did have on Coral Glam, but when I got a new OPI at a sale, I took it off so I could see how the color looked. I had that on for about 3 days, no chips. As a sidenote, I didn't use a topcaot on the holos, as they tend to dull the effect.

Coral Glam, no topcoat, in natural sunlight.

Mermaid Spell on toes, it was really sunny when I took this, sorry :s
